CONTINUING THE LEGACY
It’s hard to believe it’s been over 40 years since the Wright State University Alumni Association was founded. Over the past four decades, we have been proudly committed to supporting our alma mater, keeping our alumni connected, and providing scholarships to hundreds of Wright State students.
In today’s economy, as state and federal funding continues to decrease, private dollars for scholarships are needed now more than ever before. You have already shown your pride in Wright State through your membership in the Wright State University Alumni Association. Now you can show your commitment to helping Wright State students achieve their dream of a college education.
You can choose to support Wright State students through your gifts to any (or all) of these Alumni Association scholarship funds:
- Legacy Scholarship Fund
- African-American Alumni Society Scholars Fund
- Social Work Alumni Society Scholarship Fund
Remember, every gift, regardless of size, will change the lives of Wright State students.

LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP FUND >>
Legacy Scholarships support students who are immediate family members of Wright State graduates and eligible members of the Wright State University Alumni Association. The fund was created in 1994, but our Alumni Association has been committed to supporting scholarships for Wright State students since 1972—shortly after its founding.
“Students will see that someone else is willing to go the extra mile-in this case, the extra dollar- to help them better themselves. Then down the road, they turn around and give. It reinforces the tradition of giving.”

Ron Dorsten (’81, ’99)
Cassie and Ron Dorsten know the value of a Legacy Scholarship. All four of their children have received one.
“That has been such a gift to them. The Legacy Scholarship eases the cost they have to bear,” said Cassie. “With the cost of education today, any little bit helps. It can be a godsend for many students. The money they receive through the Legacy Scholarship can be the difference of whether or not they’re able to continue on.”

AFRICAN-AMERICAN ALUMNI SOCIETY SCHOLARS FUND >>
The African-American Alumni Society Scholars Fund supports Raider Country students of African/African-American descent. Members of the Society established the scholarship in 2005, and are currently working to endow the fund while continuing to sustain current-use scholarships.
“The scholarship came at a time that was really beneficial to me. Wright State has a lot of opportunities. I know the resources I got, the connections that I made, I don’t know if I would have made them anywhere else. Wright State made a huge impact on my life.”

Jeanne Lowe (’10)
SOCIAL WORK ALUMNI SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP FUND >>
The Social Work Alumni Society Scholarship Fund, established in 2010, is the newest of our Alumni Association Scholarships. The fund supports students admitted to the Social Work program in Wright State’s College of Liberal Arts.
“The scholarship was great because I used that for school and then I had student loan money that helped me to live.”
